  • BUDDHAVACANA translation project
The Estonian Theeravaada Sangha has launched the translation project "Buddhavacana" or "Word of the Buddha", the aim of which is to translate the Pāli "Tipiṭaka" or "Three Baskets" containing all the Buddha's teachings into our beautiful mother tongue.

The initiation of the "Tipitaka" translation project "Buddhavacana" was funded by

Monica Thaddey

sādhu! sādhu! sādhu!

The committee of the "Buddhavacana" project includes:

  • Venerable Ṭhitañāṇa Thero (Dr. Andrus Kahn, MA and PhD in Budhology)
  • Venerable Sudhamma Thero (BA and MA in Sanskrit and Pali)
  • Erik Arro (Estonian philologist, language editor)

The following Tipiṭaka books / texts are currently in progress:
  1. An annotated edition of the Khuddakapāṭhapāḷi (“Short Readings”) has been translated into Estonian and is awaiting donations for printing.
  2. The annotated edition of the Dhammapada has been translated. We are collecting donations for a second, revised and expanded edition.
  3. The annotated edition of the Mahāsatipaṭṭhānasutta (Dīghanikāya 22) has been translated. We are collecting donations for a second, revised and expanded edition.

The translated short suttas and dhamma passages can be found on our website DHAMMA page.
